Loves Comics Submissions

Hi, it's my first time posting here, so I figure an introduction is in order. First off, I'm friends with Mike Getsiv, who started this blog, and have been meaning to post on this blog, as it's an awesome idea, and Mike is rad. I'm a freelance illustrator and Xeric award winning cartoonist. My work can be viewed here: www.joshuakemble.com. I'm working on a graphic novel right now, and since, as we cartoonists all know, the pay in comics is close to nothing, I pay rent and bills by doing freelance illustration, and loads of artwork for t-shirts. Recently, Threadless, an awesome shirt design competition site, had a contest with the theme of comics on t-shirts, titled "loves comics" and these are my submissions. If you like them, I'd appreciate if you'd take the few minutes it takes to vote and comment on the designs, as they'll print the designs, and also give me some hefty financial rewards if I win:

Thanks for viewing these. I hope to post on this awesome blog more often, and appreciate Mike setting up such a great forum!

  1. Thank you, my friend.

I really like seeing all three of these together. It's interesting how making comics for t-shirts got you working with more striking page design as well as bolder color schemes and it's exciting to think about what you might develop for your next project...

  2. Wow - these are stunning! The first one I love for its Marxist bent - making the means of production obvious. A brilliant and simple way of getting at some deep and complex thoughts. And Captain Obvious is just lovely. Really great work. I look forward to seeing more.
